Things to Bring

To make things easier and a bit faster to get your loan approved and finalized we recommend being ready to bring:

  1. Proof of Income
This will vary from person to person, but typically consists of your most recent pay stub showing your year-to-date earnings.  If you do not have a pay stub, then some other options are 3 months of bank statements (self employed, 1099 contracted employees, to prove tips not reported on pay stubs, etc.).  For others, namely retired folks, award letters for SSI and/or pension statements (sometimes it is also necessary to bring bank statements to support these letters).  And in other cases, a letter from your employer stating what your monthly income is with your hourly wage, hours worked per week and your hire date.  Most any and all forms of proof of income must be dated within 30 days of the lenders approval.

  2. Proof of Residence
A utility bill in your name, dated within 30 days, showing your current physical address.  If you don't have utilities in your name, then oftentimes a recent bank statement, cell phone bill or credit card statement mailed to your home, in your name, will be just fine.  If you've just moved into your new home, then many lenders will accept a rental or lease agreement as well.

  3. References
Each lender will require anywhere from 2-10 family/personal references.  They are looking for the name, address (each reference must have a unique address and no PO Boxes) and phone numbers for some people that you know and that know you.  Most lenders are looking for a number of references somewhere in the middle with 6 being the most common.

  4. Proof of Full Coverage Insurance
This can be handled at the dealership with a short phone call followed up with a fax from your insurance agent.

  5. Current Drivers License
  6. Landlords Phone Number (if applicable)
  7. Your Down Payment and/or Trade In
